OUR TEAM
We are a group of journalism students from Florida Gulf Coast University. Our goal is to spread information about the 287(g) program in Southwest Florida and give both sides of the immigration debate a platform to speak from.
gABRIELA hARDAN
Gabriela is a journalism student at Florida Gulf Coast University, and is expected to graduate in May of 2018. She freelances for Breeze Newspapers and she has a special interest in photojournalism. She is passionate about social justice and human rights issues, and hopes to travel the world and document human impact stories.
For this project, Gabriela is the managing editor, and contributing writer, videographer and photographer. She hopes to raise awareness about immigration in southwest Florida, and wants to highlight the human impact immigration issues have on the community.
NICHOLAS
IWANIEC
Nicholas is a journalism student at Florida Gulf Coast University, and is expected to graduate May 2018. He is a contributing writer for Eagle News and is interested in photography and videography. Nicholas recently took a trip to Haiti as a volunteer for a chiropractic care mission. He hopes to be more involved with global philanthropic missions in the future and document his journeys.

For this project, Nicholas is the liaison between contacts in the local community and our team, a contributing writer, videographer and photographer. He has a passion for helping others and hopes this project will enlighten people about issues in southwest Florida.
ARIEL
LONG
Ariel is a journalism major attending Florida Gulf Coast University and is expected to graduate in May of 2018. Ariel has interned with local news outlets, such as Naples Herald and Hello SWFL, where she gained her writing, plus video and editing skills. Her passion is to pursue in broadcasting journalism for radio and stand-up reporting and plans to attend graduate school.
Ariel handles all of the social media elements for the project while contributing as a writer and helps edit videos. She hopes this project will raise awareness about immigration in the local community and across the nation.
AMANDA
RECHKEMMER
Amanda is majoring in journalism with a minor in digital media design. She has always been passionate about human interest stories and the effect that political decisions can have on the community. Amanda interns at eBella magazine in Naples, Florida, and hopes to one day work for a multimedia news organization where she can combine her interests of writing and digital media design.

Amanda is the graphic designer, contributing videographer and editor for this project. She hopes this project will help spread information about the lesser-known aspects of immigration legislation and how both sides view it.
